I was mafia last game and there were many things that unbalanced the game for us, but i still didnt say them because I would've looked suspicious (like you did). So I told those things when the game was over (Nobody cared, though >_>) There are many "flaws" that should be taken in consideration but I don't thing that everybody stating "I'm pro town" is a big deal because even if the lie detector investigate everybody he still cant say that without taking the risk of being caugh and lose the abilitie and there a big chance that people wont believe them because its too easy to role claim being a lie detector *cough* DGC in last game *cough* |
I have played 4 games. I have been accused of being mafia in all 4 of them because I "acted suspicious." I have been mafia in one of them. I act the same regardless of my alignment. I just naturally act "suspicious" it seems. It is also not easy to roleclaim lie detector. The second DGC did it he confirmed my suspicion that he was mafia. I can go into great detail in a PM if you like as this isn't the place to discuss it. Everything I said I will stand by at the end of the game. There was only one thing I stated that would have been different if I was not a mafia, but this is not the time to discuss that.
All that aside, adding in another check to get the mafia seriously shifts the balance. Even if it is used just once, that reduces the mafia by a third. That is a serious shift. Even without role claiming, you can get the ball rolling on someone and knock them off as mafia. After that your next claim will be taken very seriously, and it will be the first chance the mafia has to neutralize the lie detector now turned into a second cop. That is huge.
I'll drop this discussion for now though until the end of the game. I do not want to slip and give some information I have gathered by accident, or distract people from the game at hand.
