If your academic institute has an MSDNAA subscription, you are possibly entitled to get free copies of various MS products already. I'm assuming that Windows 7 will be added to the available list, as I got both XP and Vista keys and media from my university.

Given Vista Business Edition is included in the MSDNAA. That would mean that Windows 7 Professional would be the equivalent available.
