I'm doing the same thing but I haven't sold my original 60GB PS3 yet (but I have bought a Slim).
Am I the only one who notices how much louder the Slim is? Once a game starts going (and there's no sound from the TV, say during a loading screen) the fans are really noticeable. They may be smaller but their sound has a much higher pitch to it, so it probably isn't "louder" per se but definitely more noticeable. AND the disc really chugs inside the machine when it's trying to load something, which bugs me.
