Games not out for a month. how do sony games get these early reviews? Killzone 2 had reviews a month in advance.

Halo ODST is out in 5 ays and we are still waiting for a review...

 

- preview built can be sent to reviewer, it is not the finished game but it is close so some site use them to make their review

- there is an embargo on Halo ODST review

MS used their money (guess) to not allow people to release their review too early.
One would say it is because the game sucks, or it is not worth the money (too short) but I will not allow my self to say it (it is perhaps good after all ...)

also, u dont want review to break the insane amont of preorder in the USA alone ?

(I know, even if the review are bad, those guys will get the game anyway ...)

I work in online advertising and have worked for sites and online publishers before. There is no money changing hands for reviews... Publishers have to follow review embargo dates and this could be why the Halo review is not out.

However IGN is releasing it on Satuday...well before the game is out. So by Monday lots of reviews should be available.

Anywho, I just find it suspicios when game gets reviewed a month early. Kinda like ..."here, you can review this early if you hype it up and make it seem like its the best game ever"

are you suggesting that sony paid for the review?

generization without evidence i know but,... typically games that turn out great are released early so that great reviews can build up some hype.  games that turn out bad have a review embargo so bad reviews don't turn off day 1 buyers.  take that how you will.

I am not saying Uncharted 2 will trun out badly or anything. Im sure its going to be all that...and then some...11/10.

Im just a little surprised that all Sony high end exclusives as of late are getting perfect 10s a month before they come out. Like Killzone 2 had dozen perfect 10 legit reviews before the game actually came out. Some even claiming it makes Halo 3 , gears of war 2 look like highschool productions.

Now that the dust settled we can see that the game is great but it is not the second coming of jesus like everyone thought. A lot more people still preffer Halo 3 and Gears2 to Killzone2 even if they seem like "high school" productions.

As far as ODST, I don't expect it to be given a free pass. Just look at the negativity on this site for halo. Its the only HD game that sold 10 million without bundles on a signle console...yet people still say its crap. ODST will retain some of the same elements and it will get even more of a beating since people will bitch about graphics, lackof variety...etc.

Id be surprised if ODST stays at 9 on metacritic actually. None of that concerns me though.. I am playing WET right now and I like it way more than Batman AA. I know that if Halo ODST is made with similar mindset as other halos, I will absolutely love it.
