It might be a smaller gap of loss or breakin even but I don't think profit is coming from selling PS3. With that said I don't think Sony thought it was going to be able to have such a price drop in manufacturing so soon. Between the Bluray diode and the IBM processors . I think a price drop is going to happen pretty soon but who knows?

I am not so sure if Sony even feels the manufacturing change by IBM. Don't forget they already had a long term investment with the Cell and it was planned that the first Cells would be produced in 65 nm from the start. So I have doubts, that Sony had to pay the higher 90 nm prizes. It is more likely that they had a previously fixed price, that was calculated for the 65 nm setting.
