I, of course, mean percentage wise.  For example VGChartz probably sports 2000+ PS3 owners amongst its members, so if a 3% failure rate for the first year is within industry standards this would still mean 60 failed PS3s amongst members within the first year.

I believe there was a way higher percentage of 360s which were dead on arrival or failed within the first month on the market. IMO it's clear from all the insider info we have been provided the 360 failures were way beyond industry standards (all the people I know who had 360s around launch, me included failed eventually). It not unlikely the PS3 performed well within industry standards regarding consumer electronics.
