Thanks to that program I now know that a man who claims he can cure cancer with his hands is a con-artist, glad the BBC was able to work that one out for me! Anyway, I caught the start of the program (before it became too painful to watch) and they really didn't seem to provide any information regarding the PS3 failures. They basically said that some of the launch models break down and Sony charge you to fix them if it's outside the warranty. Not really cutting edge jounalism but maybe I missed something at the end?
