Its main advantage is that it reduces the probability of hitting the wrong keys instead of the WASD ones, but for games like Planescape: Torment, where you can bind a lot of commands to keys, I end up accepting the greater error rate of WASD on the keyboard for the convenience of having a lot of favourite spells and actions readily available besides the standard commands, that the pad would have enough keys for. Maybe, as that pad replicates keyboard keys, I can try to figure out a scheme to use the pad for all the most common actions and the keybord for less common ones.
