Outside of that, there is also the fact that MGS4 got better reviews (not a higher metascore, but when looking at the top gaming sites - gamespot and IGN, it got a 10 in both of them), and had much, much more hype.
Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
