not that big of a deal for me. On Gears 2 I never play hord mode through matchmaking. I always only played with my friends and never really had any problems. Of course, I have about 80 friends on XBL and I don't know how many you have, so that might be an issue. However, as it is, it doesn't bother me.
It's basically just like playing co-op, which wasn't done through matchmaking either.
