Best time for local multiplayer was the N64. Starfox 64, Mario Kart, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, ISS '98, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, and of course Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Recently though, Guitar Hero / Rockband are really fun.
