Super Mario Galaxy and Mass Effect, both are utterly absorbing games, with stunning graphics and brilliant soundtracks.
Similarities aside 
Galaxy is a true 3D platformer, with more new ideas than dozens of other games, and is a joy to play start to finish. Mass Effect was just the space opera I needed last summer-the characters in particular are highly memorable, and the sense of momentum and fate, choice and consequence in the main narrative really was amazing.
I eagerly anticpate the sequels to both games.
