A serious question, what does Natal offer that the PS Eye doesn't? I know Sony is foucssing on using their wand in conjuction with the Eye but based on the Eye Pet demo it would appear that the PS Eye is also capable of tracking body movements (and now we have facial and voice regonition too).

If you like playing with the lights dimmed down low for atmosphere then you'll be needing a 360 and Natal. Other than that, I'm not sure. Different technologies practically the same outcome.

PSEye uses pixel color changes and edge detection to determine movement and distance.  Calculations are done by the PS3.

Natal uses infrared to determine the exact distance of objects and creates a skeletal system comprising of 48 different points.  Calculations are done via an onboard chip on Natal.

I believe PSEYE uses infrared as well. Watch this presentation by Dr Rick (Playstation head of R&D)

This is from 2003 where he is talking about what new stuff tehy have been working on. He talks about a new camera that uses IR from an Israeli company.
