Here however is the easiest way to sum up where Vagabond and I disagree with you though. Vagabond and I would see the two as separate but identical. This can be shown by the fact that "you" aren't waking up there. It's another you.


Say you take this computer consciousness I have...

This consciousness is in my own "Truman world".

Now then... I copy the entire program so the "Truman world" is in fact still intact.

Here now we have two identical consciousnesses... in two identical worlds... acting the same way.

They aren't the same exact being... though there is no divergence in experience... yet they are two clearly separate entities.

They are not the same person. If I were to kill mine. While yours remained alive... I would still be killing mine. A separate consciousness.

Just because there was an exact duplicate it does not mean i haven't ended Chester's life. (My program would be named Chester.)

Those two chester's though identical are infact two different beings.  They don't share a consiousness.  Each is there own, as can be shown by the fact that there actually could be a divergence in expierence if one wished to be so.
