Everyone has their own favorites, but I thought FF12 is a stupendous work of art. That's not something I say very often about a game, but FF12 has some of the best storyline, voice acting, characters, dialogue and, yes, game-play of any game in history. Mature scriptwriting, strong female characters, subtle geopolitical themes, sky-pirating thrills and Viera chills - it's all there.
That's going to be tough to equal, let alone top. Some obvious continuities: air-ships, technology versus magic, characters who have to make fateful choices...
