Ok I completely disagree with the memory thing but as you said its a bit irrelevant to this conversation.
Also if you copy and paste exactly in my opinion it is the same consciousness on your computer. There is nothing to distinguish one as an original - they are the same consciousness but they will diverge from the point of copying onwards.
Also I do believe that if it was possible to upload my consciousness into a computer then yes, when I was about to die I would allow somebody to load me onto the computer.
