But I mean... forget all that.

Lets go back to computers.

Say I develop an artificial intelligence on my computer with basic consciousness.

I copy it and put it on your computer. Is it the same consciousness that was on my computer?

Of course not. It is a copy on your computer.

The original is still on my computer. If i were to delete or cut instead of copy... I would be destroying that AI.

If I were to copy the AI and it was programmed to have a certain set of circumstances in a virutal world... identical to the ones happening in mine...

Does that make both consciousnesses the same being in your mind?

If someone were able to create a "Virtual Rath" made purely out of a virtual computer program... that was an exact copy of you in a virtual world... would that be you?  Would you allow someone to kill you if they could upload the data of everything you were into a computer that would let you lvie forever. (Or at least as long as the computer was running.)
