I thought the use of subliminal messaging is to make you subconsciously remember something odd about the box art. Which encourage s your brain to remember the name\game well as well as do further investigating |buying|watching| the game or what not. Same way movie theatres used to flash a picture of popcorn for a millisecond to get u hungry for popcorn.
