^^^ Blu-ray is here for the long run. because of it's versatility, it will out last DVD's. It has so much momentum now, that it cannot be stopped. Sales are blowing the industry away. So, just like DVD faster and faster drives will be made over time.
If MS goes the way of DD only, they will seriously fuck themselves in the ass! I mean, most will have gotten heavely into BD's by then, and would buy the system/s that play them. M$ ploy to confuse the cosumer with the 2 HD formates failed miserably and all what they implied in the past about Blu-ray just has made them look even more stupid. I think they have to bite the bullet and go Blu if they want success next gen. Bringing back HDDVD in their next system would be a huge risk, IMHO. it's a fair hike away and BD's will be in full force accross the board by then.
I never said graphics won't get better. I said that the leaps are getting shorter. When it does peak, companies will need to prove themselves with the more important things like innovation, etc, etc
