I think this is the same technology as NVIDIA has for the PC, so no you don't have to wear those glasses.
Instead you have to wear different glasses which block the right and left eye on each alternate frame. Basically the PS3 alternately renders two different points of view (one per eye), and the glasses make sure each eye only sees the frames which correspond to its point of view.
This of course requires the PS3 to render at 120 fps, and the TV to be able to display 120 fps (so that each eye sees 60 frames per second, less than that would make it too flickery).
