^Took who long enough? So far as I can tell (from VGC data) PS3 is/will be the all time third fastest console to reach 24 million, behind Wii and PS2. Seems like a pretty good feat for a console which has been declared dead and will cause the ultimate downfall of Sony as a viable company on a regular basis.

@ NYANKS: I don't think the losses will ever be regarded as acceptable, in that this is a strategy Sony are unlikely to ever repeat to the extent that they have with the PS3. They might make another expensive console, but not sell it at a loss. Or they might sell a loss making console, but at a price that is much closer to the competition, and for a much lower per unit loss.
