Yes. Just like the rest of Africa, Nigeria has tons of natural resources. But these were squandered by the greed of the dictators and the Western corporations that propped these dictatorships up for the purpose of exploiting the oil-wealth.
What has resulted is a poverty stricken population and what often happens in this case is that larger number of people follow the path of crime for survival's stake.
