One of the best broadcasters in the world true.... but apart from the very good (although rampantly politically correct) news and the odd documentary... forget it.

Sport? Sky
Movies? Sky (or downloads)
Music? Sky
Documentaries? Sky

True but that's like comparing whatever some cable/satellite company in America is called with say ABC?

Of course the satellite service is going to have much more content, especially if the broadcasts of ABC are on it :D

A straight comparison of actual sky branded channels, that'd be fine to compare with the BBC channels.

Take it that there was no subscription costs for Sky/BBC then IMO.

Sports - Sky, although only reason is for more live games-replays etc are much prefered from BBC personally but still Sky will take sports any day until the BBC aquires some form of live Premier Leauge football.

Movies - Sky, 8 or so dedicated channels for movies albeit a lot of replays if you've noticed(Forgot about SkyBoxOffice but I personally don't like it at all, yes it has films that have just came on DVD's for around around a month ago but it's certainly not worth paying for) vs 0 dedicated movie channels. Less choice, more olden films but imo on the hole of higher quality.

Music - Hmm, don't think anyone personally wins here.

Documentaries - BBC, seriously? What has Sky here... Yes they've got The History Channel etc but what do they produce?

Comedy - BBC, Mock the Week, Have I got News for you, QI, How Not to Live your Life and Coming of Age.

Drama - BBC, please don't tell me that sky will compete with BBC drama's :D

News - BBC, already talked about.

Care free to add opinions/more genre's etc if I've forgot any.
