I checked Makingmusic's Last.fm list (or whatever the site is)
There's lots of good stuff like Maiden Metallica Kamelot Therion Nightwish Children of Bodom Iced Earth Ensiferum Ozzy.

Only Amorphis is missing (if we exclude the heavier realms of thrash, death and black metal).

Well, and Queensrÿche, Sabbath, Dio and tons of other 80's bands of course.

I listen to plenty of Sabbath and Dio, just through other means because I'm too broke to buy CDs in bulk like I used to.

And yes, I have this strange need to always by the CD.  I have over 50 CDs.

@Twesterm:  Dark Passion Play showcases there some one newer sound, with a new vocalist.  Their older sound was generally les symphonic, incorporating more synthesizers instead.  It also featured a more opratic vocalist, the lovely Tarja Turinen.  Of course, their album just prior to Dark Passion Play, called Once, shows off the best of Nightwish, joining the voice of Tarja with a full symphony, resulting in songs like this (ignore the Warhammer stuff):

Hmm, so I downloaded Angel's Fall First and Oceanborn and I think I'm glad they got rid of that chick.  There are some good songs but her voice just seems a bit too classical and I don't like those CD's nearly as much.
