It doesn't break more often than Windows, and when it does you don't have to do command-line editing to fix it.

The first point is an entirely other argument that can be interpretted and spun in many ways.

The second is ignorance on your part because it has happened to myself, a friend, and likely countless others.  When xorg specifically fails, you will get a screen asking to reconfigure however when HAL daemon breaks causing xorg to fail then you will not.
