You do realize Kuturagi was the one who over-enginnered PS3 in the first place and Kaz is the one who has been trying to fix his mistakes since he stepped down?

It was Sony's idea to put the Blu Ray in the PS3.

Completely irrelevant point. It is generally agreed that Kutaragi is an excellent engineer but, unfortunately, a very poor "beancounter". He did overengineer the original PS3 by using two cell processors and building an entire manufacturing chain for the PS3 (essentially in his plan, Sony would build all components by themselves). When it became clear that this dual-cell system could not work, the shit hit the fan and the whole manufacturing idea crumbled - ultimately leading to a unplanned loss of at least $2b. From then on the PS3 architecture and manufacturing model basically switched into panic mode and that is what cost him the job ultimately.

(The old-fashioned way of "firing someone" in Japan was the so-called "window-job". Employees no longer neede would get a desk in an office where they would read newspapers all day until retirement).
