Geez guys, don't blame Square Enix for the PS3 being a failure. It's not their fault they can't rely on Sony a lone for outstanding sales.

Well...with 23 million consoles sold...I wouldn't say PS3 is a failure...BUT...with the much higher cost of developing and publishing games this generation, the makers of games have to implement a strategy that reduces financial risk, and maximizes profit returns.  This is a business, and the percentage that has been bantered about constantly is that making a multiplatform cost only 10% more...

Now…I’ve got about as much experience in programming complex software, as about as much as being an expert at COD prepares you for real combat, but I do know from a process standpoint that the 10% is most likely at best case for a developer with extensive experience in producing multiplats. I’m not sure if M$ did indeed fund SE to get proficient on the Xbox platform this gen, but they have made great strides in making games for the 360 (albeit bad games, imho) and LP and now LP2 are going to be must haves.  SE also just got Eidos thru acquisition, so they are a company really seeking to diversify their portfolio, and that means games for PCs.  Given how easy it is to port a PC game to the 360, it’s only nature that from a cost perspective, it’s a no-brainer for SE not to launch exclusives.  Even FF14…the game is coming to the PC, and PS3…HUH…of course it’s likely going to be timed, and it’s also a business issue with M$ probably playing hardball on those monthly subs, that’s also causing the hang-ups for Champions as well.
