I predicted this to happen. Not the strawberry jam thing, but that the PS3 Slim would sell mostly to the existing userbase.

 That wouldn't explain the boost in software sales for so many games though, would it? I think you're looking at very few exsisting PS3 owners caring about the Slim. Alot of stores are doing a "Trade your old PS3 for a Slim" type deal though - things get messy there though as you can't really track used console sales.
