Yeah.. you don't actually touch your eye. It's just about getting used to your finger being half a mm away from it XD
With hard/rigid ones all you do is pull to the side (like you're trying to look really asian) and look to the other side at the same time. So your finger is close to your eye only when you put them in (but on the other hand you sort of need to take them out and put them back in almost every day).
Mostly it's about getting over the reflex to jerk away when something gets so close to your eye.
edit: It's quite difficult going back to glasses after you're used to contacts. Couple of months ago I didn't order my contacts in time and had to spend almost a month with glasses on. After falling asleep without taking them off a couple of times I kind of got used to them being the last thing before I go to bed and the first thing in the morning, but half of the mornings I felt very stupid when I splashed them with water trying to wash my face.
