^ First time they made me wear contacts (I was around 10 y/o), the doctor though it was best to put them in my eyes herself. Bad idea because the moment her finger got within half an inch of my eye I promptly passed out.
Those were rigid contacts and I had to wear them all throughout my teens because they were supposed to prevent some eye disorder my dad had and maybe I would develop. Rigid contacts really sucked, my eyes got tired too fast, dust was painful, they fell off too often etc.
Switched to soft contacts a couple of years ago though (astigmatism and -2 dioptres) and it's been a pleasant ride since then, I use a new pair every month but other than that I don't need to take them out at all during the month, and I have none of the problems rigid contacts caused.
(I still have a pair of glasses just in case and actually like how I look with them on, but they are too much hassle)
