The problem with that statement is that it's just wishful thinking and I wouldn't be surprised if you could find a similar type of statement towards the end of development for the last few FF games.

The reason RPG games are a dying breed is because:

  • They take a lot of time because they are expected to have a lot of varied content
  • They take a lot of time because they are expected to make a game that stays interesting for 100+ hours
  • They take a lot of time because they are expected to be full of the best looking eye candy ever

Anyone who thinks these games with the budget and scope of the usual FF games should take the same amount of time as any other game while keeping the same bar is insane.

That is especially for FF JRPG's.... Other JRPG's most of the time don't look that great....

Well yeah, I mentioned that since we are talking about FF :-p

Well okay =p.. I just said that because of this : (RPG games are a dying breed) sound like you were talking about JRPG's in general.

Well that one was in general.  Yes, they're still being made but the aren't the thing anymore.  They're expensive to make and they don't sell as well as other games.  Traditional RPG's are a dying breed (I'm not counting those other games that just list RPG elements as a buzz word).
