What are some advantages on buying a console at the end of the war?

in my area the gamecube section is small at places that only carry new games, but if i go to a used game shop there is still tons of GC games. Some games have become rare, but i doubt there is even 1 GC game that would cost you over $50. Ikaruga would be the only thing even close to that.
