8.5 IMO isn't per se a bad score, but I'll reserve my score for when I completed the game, I like hard reviews though, but of course only across all games (reviewing all games equally hard).

My scores for some of the games I completed on my PS3 and on my past XBox 360 so far (comparitive scores for past favourite games GTA: San Andreas, Mario64, Half-Life 2 , 8.5, 9, 8.5):

Super Stardust HD: 8.5
God of War 2: 8.5
Oblivion (PS3): 8 (based on many dozens hours of gameplay, for example Nine Divines quest completed)
Resistance Fall of Man: 8
God of War: 8
Jak 3: 7.5
Ape Escape 2 and 3: 7 (part 3 a bit too easy, but well suited for kids and is more polished and diverse than part 2)
Gears of War: 7 (yes a 8.5 for graphics, but the rest drags down the score considerably for me)
Super Ruba Dub: 7 (considering cost)
Calling all Cars: 7 (considering cost)
Fl0w: 6 (considering cost)

(A game I got far with, but couldn't be bothered to finish: Condemned: 4)
