I remember a lot of complaints of lack of BC on the 40GB ps3. I also remember a lot of those complaints being described as obstacles to buying the 40GB.

Back then, we used to just say, "Buy a ps2 if you really wanna play ps2 games, it's only 79$ used".

Now, we have a 120GB slim ps3 along with BC (a ps2) for 20$ less than the 40gb was. Yet there are still the same complaints we saw before the price drop.

To people who don't own a ps3 yet: Does onboard BC really make that much of a difference?

To people who do own a ps3: Do you have BC or a ps2? Or does it even matter?

Personally I don't have a ps2, and I don't see the need for one between ps3, PC, DS, and soon to be GO. Plus hanging out, and tv, and the sex and stuff. Even if I had BC I don't think I'd be playing it that much.

With a PS2 and PS3 I get:

  • A PS2 sitting in the middle of nowhere because I have no room in my entertainment center.
  • Have to deal with another input in my receiver.
  • Have to deal with a console that doesn't have wireless controllers (yes, there are those crappy 3rd party ones but they're crappy).
  • I can't turn on my PS2 with my universal remote.

With my PS3 with BC I get:

  • One less console so less clutter
  • upscaled games

So yeah, I still think it's shitty that at the start of this generation that Sony was all about BC and laughed at others for not having it and now it's not important.  Luckily I have a PS3 with BC but then there's the chance that if it breaks (and it's starting to get really loud and about 2/3 of the time doesn't recognize any of my BlueTooth devices) and I send it in for repairs I won't get a BC PS3 back.
