I'm considering just getting the PS2 version of GT3, but I'm hoping they release an update or an adaptor that finally completely works with the old PS2 guitars so I can use it for the PS3 game (rock band as well). The PS3 version of Rock Band is the only one that has a wireless guitar so I'm going with that version there.

I'm not sure why anyone would get the Wii version unless you don't have a PS2, but I guess if you have no previous version...enjoy your friend codes.

Probably because its cheaper, has rumble, is innately wireless, and has the built in speaker (via wii-mote)....but I don't know..I guess those aren't very good reasons =P /sarcasm

In any case does the PS2 version even have online play? I know the PS2 has network capabilities and all but how many people actually even use that? Seems like you could have a hard time finding folks to play on the PS2 version since there is no x-platform play.

edit: PS - Does anyone else find it a bit hard to believe that they would have online multiplayer but not offline multiplayer? They are the same mode! The only differnce is where the input comes from....

Cheaper?  Really?  That's a reason?  It's $5 cheaper for the bundle (which you have to buy for the Wii because it's the first version).  That's $95 versus $90.  The PS2 version is $80 (wait a second...that's not cheaper than the Wii version at all...)  Yeah, real cheaper...now let's compare features...

What exactly is that speaker on the wiimote going to do for me?  The last I played Guitar Hero the sound came from the TV.  And yes, the PS2 still has better online games to play than the Wii.  I've played them for years.  People use it.  Guitar Hero 3 on the PS2 will be online according to amazon, and as for finding people to play...more people have Guitar Hero on the PS2 than any other system.  Odd statement.

The PS3 and 360 versions also have wireless guitars, but somehow the Wii is more "innately" wireless?  Ok, guys...I'd much rather not have to hook up to another controller.  I'd say the PS3 and 360 versions are more wireless, unless you want rumble...on the Wiimote?  Last I checked you used a guitar...

Now, which versions get downloadable songs?  Yeah, not the Wii or PS2.  That's the most important feature.

So like I said, I'm not sure why I would even buy the (more expensive) Wii version when I can just get the $45 game and use my old guitar.  So, I would like the PS3 to support my old guitar as well so I can spend the $5 for better online and downloadable content for both Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band (which isn't even on the Wii and will be better because of drums and mic).

Oh, and I have a Wii.  I guess if that's all you're stuck with, you'll still have fun...
