Sadly though, one thing I have learned in my efforts to convert friends and family to safer computing habits is that people are wierd about their browsers.  Sometimes they get all offended or act like its going to be some big hassle like buying a new car.  Then even if you explain how simple and easy it is they have already built it up in their mind to be this big thing...and by then its too late...

Now, when I build computers for people I just install firefox and add the basic plugins like adblock etc.. and remove the IE icon from the desktop and start menu.  I haven't had any comlaints, but occasionally I get asked where IE is and I just show them the firefox icon which usually prompts an "Oh IE changed their look!"...and its always funny when a week later they are explaining how much better this new version of IE is =P
