If its any consolation - mine also YLOD'd for the third time the day before the Slim came out. I have now given up on it and am going to buy a Slim today. I prefer the fat ones. Must get an extended warranty this time.
By the way - mine had Dead Space stuck in the drive. If you do the fan-thing a few times, you should be able to get the disc out. Turn the power off at the back, hold the eject button and turn power back on. This should turn the fan on (even if its YLOD). Do this a few times and eventually the disc will come out.
