Thats sad man. No one benefits form this. Sony has to sell you a console at a loss. You have to buy another console at a loss or repair the curret one at a loss. Considering yours has BC, id say repair it.
These consoles today are messed up... My genesis, 32x and sega CD dont miss a beat but I had problems with PS1, PS2 and Xbox360. Pretty much everything i owned that was CD based other than Saturn and Dreamcast.
