Say Khuutra and Soleron are both mafia. Khuutra convinces everyone that he's a townsfolk and then prevents Soleron from being lynched while also convincing Craan to investigate him. If Khuutra comes back as Mafia (and he would) then Khuutra concludes that Craan is insane and that both he and Soleron are innocent.
You know, I think I already noted something like that: I am a Townie, 100% positive of my own role. Craan, I want you to scan me tonight. If I come back Mafia, then you're insane, and Soleron is not necessarily Mafia - this doesn't clear him, it just means that you might see everyone as being Mafia, instead of seeing them in reverse roles.
Craan seeing me as Mafia wouldn't be proof of anything except for his insanity - there's more than one sort.Which, yes, assumes I am town, which I think I've dropped enough hints to suggest I am and the specific role I play. It is not a role which is easy to fake.
@dtewi: He's making too many easy mistakes in terms of logic for it to actually be a series of mistakes.
