buying out nasa... that'd be awesome. send mario into space! i can see mario being the first human/video game character on mars. i'm gonna go ahead and list what i think most people would consider the main problems with the wii:
1. hard drive/flash memory drive thing is too small
2. not much quality 3rd party support (quality being the key word)
3. not enough new IP's from nintendo, especially hard core games. also they could bring back some other franchises that haven't been given a game in a while
4. ONLINE
so they should be spending their loads of money on these things:
1. either bring out a cheap hard drive or better yet just make better SD card support so you can just stick an SD card in the slot and play the games right off that.
2. spend a lot of time and money wooing 3rd parties to make big time games for wii instead of just ps2 ports, quick and crappy casual and mini games, or just shoddy games in general. this really shouldn't be too hard since the wii is in the clear lead now in terms of installed base. i don't think they really need to outright buy 3rd parties but just convince them to put their full effort into making wii games.
3. nintendo itself should add some new more mature IP's to join its mostly "everyone" franchises to bring in more hardcore gamers and bring back some old ones that haven't been focused on in a while like kid icarus, get a good star fox game with online like warhawk, a full scale console pokemon rpg would be HUGE, kirby, donkey kong, etc. I also think it'd be really cool to see some 2D versions of games come back at like $30-40 per game like mario and metroid done in 3D but like smash bros where play is done in 2D. they could make good long 2D versions of these franchises much quicker at a much cheaper price than their normal 3D games. bring back old school difficulty to these and they could add fun online stuff like two player as mario and luigi beating levels together with ramped up difficulty or competing to beat levels the quickest and being able to slow the others progress by stomping on them and stuff. add in some cool motion controls and i have no doubt these games would sell very well at the budget price.
4. they absolutely need to spend a lot of money to give us a good online service. get more games online, give us all the features like leaderboards, tournaments, voice chat, let us know which of our friends are online, have online games taking place between friends and strangers at the same time, being able to add strangers as friends simply by clicking on their name online. also demos of new games would be awesome.
if they could spend money on making these things happen in '08 it would possibly make the wii the best system ever.
end of '08 predictions: wii - 43 million, 360 - 25 million, ps3 - 20 million
Games I've beat recently: Super Mario Galaxy, Knights of the Old Republic, Shadow of the Collossus
