It' not the 'evolution' aspect that parents are dumb about who dub it as taboo. It's the fact they don't realize that even us humans go through evolution our whole lives. Like when we are younger, we are cute and cuddly as a Charmander, and when we grow up a bit more (well, boys mainly) we become roudy and aggressive like Charmeleon. Then when we finally mature into adults, we become majestic and powerful in our own rights because we experienced life more, hence being like a Charizard.
Even though I mentioned that I'm a Catholic, evolution is ALL around us. A parent who thinks Pokemon is Satanic due to evolution is just dumb. How are they going to teach their children or stop them learning about how certain animals change form to reach adulthood (caterpillar > cocoon > butterfly)? Plus we are changing all the time as well as we are evolving into adults. How are you going to explain to a child that a bear cub (Teddiursa) is going to grow (evolve) into a bear (Ursaring)? Or a pitbull puppy (Snubbull) is going to grow a pitbull (Granbull)? See what I mean??
The one nun that my private (Catholic) high school has even supports evolution, and blatantly said the Vatican was stupid enough to say that evolution was blasphamy. She's also a biology teacher as well and teaches evolution for a month or two. She even told me one time that despite how crazy Pokemon may seem, it does teach chldren how things grow and mature through life.
