I wouldn't. Especially if your old PC isn't rocking an i7. Most of those games run like ass on a dual core processors. Plus, PC gaming is rife with problems lately. The cost to "upgrade" is much higher than 299, you don't get some of the games, you have to deal with DRM, and you have to play them at your computer unless you build an elaborate setup like I have. Plus, once you get it built, you are always checking framerates, and worrying, and it becomes more about your "rig" and your pride for it, than it does about playing the games. As a Very High 1080p Crysis rig owner, I can honestly say, the 360 is a much, much better gaming investment. You get graphics and online mods, but you also lose a lot, and that's what PC gamers won't tell you about. |
What you said is mostly true and I don't want to get into a PC vs. console argument right now.
I would like to make one point however. On consoles, you are stuck with whatever FPS the developer has the game running at. I own Fallout 3 for PS3 and the framerate often dips in outside areas. I am forever stuck with that, there is no way I can make my PS3 more powerful so the framerate is better.
On my PC, I bought the Witcher and Mass Effect. While I could lower the graphics and get a perfect framerate, I decided I will wait and get a more powerful rig before playing the game. I know they are older games now, but I am happy that I can upgrade my computer at any time and play them with amazing graphics.
