| Twizzler said: For those of you who feel we shouldn't celebrate pride and "flaunt" our homosexuality, realize that most minorities have some sort of pride demonstration because it provides a moment of solidarity when we can say that we will not be marginalized and criminalized. Our gay agenda is to have equal rights as heterosexuals, nothing more, nothing less. Like the womans suffrage movement or the civil rights movement it is slow and we face opposition, but we will get there. There are still large portions of the world where you can be killed for being gay. You really think gay Iraqis choose to be gay, knowing they have a high chance of being tortured and killed? For all of you white, middle class, heterosexual males out there, try and think of one time where you have been a part of any minority and then humbly accept how ridiculously easy you have it. |
I wouldn't use the word "flaunt", as someone said, hetrosexuals "flaunt" their sexuality all the time. I'm opposed specificly to taking pride in anything normal like the pigment of your skin, your sexual orientation, your nationality, etc.
I won't deny other if holding pride gives them solace, that feeling for them is real. However, I can definetly tell them that the basis for that pride is illogical, and that they're being delusional for the sake of pleasure. It's a false reality that allows them to feel special, and while feeling special, good, normal, accepted is all positive, if the basis for that is false, then it's a negative thing.
My analogy for all sorts of "X" pride, is when you're little, you're told that you're special, unique, awesome, etc. In fact, it feels like so because EVERYTHING is worthy of pride nowadays. Everyone will say "X nation, pride!" everyone will say "X race pride!". I'm sure you Twizzler, won't tell whites or hetrosexuals to not be proud of their own beings. And that's when the PC bullshit starts and people don't think, and now you have to allow people to be proud of everything unquestioned.
Please, tell me, what is pride worthy, of wanting to have sexual intercourse with someone of the same sex? What does it tell about your character, to be born on a certain piece of land? What have you done to be able to claim the pride garnered by the ancestors that share the last name?
I'm assuming that for something to be pride worthy it has to be a POSITIVE thing or quality. If you win an award, you can say it tells something about your character, such as being a hard worker, a skilled person, etc. I'm sure no one will say that there's nothing NEGATIVE about being an homosexual, but I don't see why that then transitions to homosexuality being a POSITIVE thing? I can't call it hypocricy or a contradiction really, but it just seems strange how we're willing to see how illogical it is for bigots to attribute something simple as a sexual orientation as an "ideal" or "negative", but then pretty much follow in their exact same footsteps, and illogicacy, and say it's a postitive thing now.
================================
Why can't we simply not be ashamed? Simply be neutral? Race, sexual orientation, nationality, etc are colorless. They don't mean anything. They're not positive or negative. They're just FACTS. The people who are discriminated, ashamed, and looked down upon are done so by the people who are praised, proud, and looked up at. It's the attiribution of positives and negatives to absolutely worthless things that result in conflict in the first place.
Replacing inferiority with superiority doesn't fix a damn thing.
I mean look at what taking pride in nationality does, fucking internet debates between asian countries, European football fans starting riots, looking at oneself as the police of the world...
Please tell me, please justify to me, what POSITIVE thing is there about wanting to have sexual intercourse with the same sex. I'm not arguing that it's negative whatsoever, in case you've skipped my entire rant. I'm just asking what positives there are in a simple fact such as sexual orientation.
I'm not opposed to gay parades really, as long as they're only about awareness, not about pride. I don't care it if people plaster "I'm Gay" on their T-Shirts, I only care if in the inside, they feel that they're special, unique, etc, just like mommy and daddy told us when we were all kids, because of their sexual orientation.
I just fucking hate it when people think illogically, and we can't question it because we're mistaked as bigots. I fucking hate Political corectness for making discussion and questioning taboo. I think that there's nothing negative about homosexuality, and I find it just as illogical to try to say that there's something positive about it.
