they have Cell, RSX, PS2 GPU+CPU. 90nm to even more heat.
ps2 even the slim version need fan by itself, in the ps3 there huge fan for everything probably can't cool it off sometimes, especially when it gets older.
with the ps3 40gb they went 65nm cell, removed ps2 hardware. (but then went for cheaper lens) they are more reliable.
