half the articles are basically bs anyways. halo 3 isnt the hottest game ou, maybe in console land but I could have sworn Half Life 2: The Orange Box took the title of best game this season away from Halo rather quickly. As for Sony vs Nintendo and the tech article. They speak more truths then other other two but still spin everything possible towards the current leader. Its the same thing thats going on in the Presidential coverage. Hilary gets 80% of all the attention for Democrats and Guliani gets 80% of all the attention for Republicans. The media always gives a negative spin to the least popular what the producers/editors of the news companies prefer. There is no such thing as balanced media from companies like Fox, CNN, ABC, etc. You have to get your news from sites like IGN and GamePolitics to have balanced views. |
MSNBC is actually pretty unbiased. Politically anyway. As for the news stations. They arn't biased towards the Wii because it's winning. They're biased towards the Wii because it's something new. If the PS3 was winning now they really wouldn't be able to spin BS as eaisly cause it would just be another "It's a videogame system... it's selling well. Look at how cool it looks." type story that might not make the cut other then as an afternote. I mean their is Blu-ray but the High def wars don't even seem to break mainstream news coverage on TV other then a couple seconds when some giant theatre switches allegiance. The reason being... most of the people who watch the news are too old to care about Videogames and HD stuff. The rest are just people who think videogames cause people to kill their kids. Do a story on a videgame system that's positive and people are gonna change the channel.
Nah, the Wii gets all the positve spin cause it has a good Q Score as far as TV news goes. Throw some pictures in of some old people playing with their grandchildren developing a bond, some rehab work, all sorts of nice stuff like that. That keeps people watching. Even the insane people who think playing GTA makes people kill sit down and say "Oh isn't that nice! A positive videogame system!"
Overall I think it'll be fairly irrelevent. Maybe a few Mom's will say "Oh, i'm not buying my son a 400 dollar console that's failing!" but I mean, Mom's have a hard enough time saying no to their kids the rest of the year, let alone saying no i X-mas.
