Actually I chose to be attracted to men. I had this mental reflex that made me feel discust when I though of men romantically or sexually, but then I chose to stop feeling that, and actually consider my true feelings.

your so called disgust was just your fear, and like you said your true feelings were always attracted to men, but you hide behind your fears by creating disgust.
Straight men also has that disgust because their biggest fear in life is to never feel any attraction towards a man. It's so scary, it's dangerous, I have seen kids get severely beat up for just pointing or joking about it.
