i wish you'd titled your thread more blatantly, i literally just made a thread asking people their opinions on this, lol 
i personally think that compassionate release, while a tricky decision to make, was the right one. what SciFiBoy said about the Scottish Government having a moral high ground, i was thinking that too. Megrahi may not have shown compassion to his victims when he murdered them and destroyed their families, but in showing compassion to him MacAskill is a good example of a morally decent human being.
