I am not surprised. In fact, I was surprised that they made such an announcement. There is no reason to state definitively that they are never going to produce another iteration of the Halo franchise. Halo has undoubtedly made Bungie much money. It would be prudent to retain the possibility of producing another Halo game in the future.
