The exhaust of the heat sink leads directly into the power supply...WTF!?!?

not only that but the in intake of the power supply looks like it's some what blocked by the tightly placed components...again WTF!?!?!

I want to see thermal images when the PS3 slim is being pushed, that was I can see how effective this new cooling design and configuration is.

I know Sony are really good with hardware, but it's common sense not to use the hot air coming out of the heat sink to try cool your power supply which in it's self is producing heat....unless the power supply has really high thermal properties and is in fact cooled by this design...still I don't like the idea, which is why I love my phat PS3.

Sony's Engineers are some of the best in the world. I Would highly expect that we are not seeing everything here. as an engineer I too was confused when I first saw it, but I'm positive they've done the stress tests and are sure that cooling is adequate. Ignoring that, wow. What an incredibly well built and designed machine. They really make great use of the space. I've never seen such a high quality setup in a console before and I've taken almost everything apart. To bad my 80gb PS3 fat is already great enough for me,

Totally agree with you, the space is used extremely well, no useless air pockets at all, the wii is the same.

The 360 is a shock to see, it's guts resemble that of a PC, so many air pockets, so many places dead hot air can sit and cause damage...the PC has a reason and it's because there meant to be upgradeable, but the 360 has none, bad design over all.

Give the 360 hardware to sony engineers and they'll shrink that mofo to a small and compact machine with sufficient and efficient cooling. XD

Yeah, its really nice to see. Though I do share your concerns about the fan, I trust that they have a nice factor of safety on the exhaust system. It goes agaisnt traditional means, but you dont traditionally put that much hardware in such a small area. I want one so bad now just to take it apart haha, but I've had my pS3 80gb and like, it never gets hot. I play games for 10 hours straight and its still cool as can be. I just dont see any reason to get another.
