FF6 (FF3 on SNES) is by far the best Final Fantasy game

This is a great game and is probably my favourite. I'm replaying it right now (about to go in the final dungeon). I do not think it should be remade though. I think games should be enjoyed for what they are. Remakes often cheapen the original.
